George Soros invests in GVK Power

According to ET, American investor George Soros has picked up ~2% stake in GVK Power & Infrastructure through his investment vehicle Quantum Fund. It may be recalled that the company had announced plans to sell 20% of its electricity business to fund expansion plans. Big positive for Indian power sector.

Mundra phase 1 expected by Q1 09

Adani Group has announced that its first 330 MW power plant at Mundra will be commissioned in Q1 2009. The 4,620 MW plant is expected to be completed in 2010.
